Great vid. Just to unpack it a bit… Newer AVRs have an option to send full range to center and surround even in "small" mode. In these newer AVRs "small" means full range to center + surrounds and then activate the subwoofer at the crossover point. Setting to large treats the center + surround crossovers as HARD STOPS, where the center + surround will not play below the crossover and the sub picks up at the crossover. People that set to large are buying into the delusion that a pair of $1000 fronts can replicate 60hz better than a $750 subwoofer (let alone a pair of them?) no way. Try it and listen for yourself. I've tried both and unless you are running $150k of Von Schweikerts as your center + surround, you should be in small mode. I also recommend setting an extremely capable center crossover (paired with capable subs) to 60Hz as some vocal range can get into the subs and make for less clear audio. Cheers.

Thank you for slowly panning to clearly show relative positions of speakers. It’s especially easy to see how Atmos speakers are setup, which is almost always not the case against black ceilings.

I am planning for Marantz Cinema 50. How reliable is its internal parts considering this expensive amp comes with just 1 year warranty? I’ve heard Marantz undergo a strict quality checks such that it doesn’t go faulty for years to come. Also does it overheat under normal fan speed with no air conditioner in the living room? I have JBL 630 Bookshelf for Front Left & Right, JBL 625C for Center channel & JBL 660P Sub. Do you feel Marantz Cinema 50 will be a good choice or Denon AVC-X3800H - 9.4 Channel 8K AV Receiver? The seating distance between my TV & Sofa is of 11 to 12 feet.

Worthless comparison- I came here expecting a shoot out between the DMP A8 and the Rose. I just heard a hi-fi rose at a local audiophile store - it sounded nice, but didn’t make me think that the music was twice as good as it actually is or anything… and I really don’t have that much intention of dropping over 5K on a front end that will be outmoded in a few years… just because of how fast digital front end tech moves relative to more mature tech like speakers… so I wanted to know what the sound drop off would be to the A8- lots of things beat the DMP A6, but of course that’s a lot more savings. The question really is can u get a close approximation of the $5k sound for $1.8k with the DMP A8…

Great idea the speaker box for the Sonos speaker, will see if they are available in Australia One thing i can never get over is the prehistoric HV wiring use in the states, solid wires, industrial breakers something we haven’t used in 30 years in Australia, also receive a shock and it normally ends with a burn or death with 240v.
